We know that cared-for cows means
high-quality milk. So we give our cows
nutritious diets, healthy living conditions
and excellent medical care from the
moment they’re born.
And we never treat them with growth
hormones like rBST.
Shamrock Farms is committed to reducing our environmental footprint through several initiatives ranging from energy conservation to water stewardship.
The Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy has set industry goals, which includes becoming carbon neutral or better by 2050 as well as a focus on optimizing water use while maximizing recycling and improving overall water quality through enhanced utilization of manure and nutrients. As a proud member of this community, Shamrock’s efforts align with and aim to contribute to these goals. Learn more about the 2050 Environmental Stewardship Goals by visiting usdairy.com.
Beyond the nourishment of milk,
we do everything we can to work with
our local community.
Every month, we provide more than 80,000 pounds
of food to local food banks and, every year, we
support more than 80 non-profit organizations.
We’re reducing our environmental footprint across four key areas.
Water Stewardship and Energy Conversation
We recently added a waste-water pre-treatment system at our manufacturing plant and a new LED I-17 sign, reducing carbon emissions by 70,000 lbs. each year.
Most of our packaging uses 100 percent recyclable HDPE and #5 polypropylene resin. HDPE bottles consume less energy, produce less post-consumer waste, and generate lower greenhouse gas emissions than glass and other plastic.
Manure and Methane Management
With our state-of-the-art manure management system, we run a recycling program where manure becomes natural fertilizer at local farms.
Reduced Fuel Consumption
We use high-mileage and lightweight trucks and tankers, equipped with idle timers to shut engines off after five minutes. We also take logistics seriously, using smart routing software to minimize the miles traveled per case delivered.
As Arizona’s first USDA-certified organic option, we provide organic milk and sour cream that meet the highest possible standards of care and low-processing.
Back in 1922, the McClelland family founded Shamrock Farms with a commitment to treating employees like family and customers like friends. Today, nothing has changed – we’re still a family-owned and operated company and the same values inform every decision we make.
