Farm Tour FAQS

Shamrock Farms Farm Tour is a behind-the-scenes look at the hometown dairy’s real working dairy farm. Visitors travel aboard Shamrock Farms cow-spotted tram, and enjoy fun and educational tour stops, including a play zone with a 20-ft milk bottle and simulated milking cows, the milking barn accommodating 1,200 cows (milking 200 at a time), calf nursery and welcome barn. The welcome barn houses a Shamrock Farms’ family history and educational dairy museum as well as interactive games, an ice cream parlor and gift shop.

We are generally open for tours Tuesdays and Thursdays but do open on other days for special requests/events if the tour size and demand warrants it.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays we offer school tours in the morning and public tours at 1pm We suggest that visitors scheduled for the 1pm. public tour on Tuesdays and Thursdays arrive at 12:30pm

We are located in Stanfield, Arizona. If you are still thinking “Stanfield? Where is that?” (which most people do!) we are located basically in between Phoenix and Tucson. We are Southeast of the town of Maricopa (about 25 minutes) and northwest of Casa Grande (about 30 minutes).

Mapquest or GPS devices do not provide reliable directions. Please, please, please access the directions from our website by clicking here. We have listed directions from every part of the State for your convenience.

The tour through our working dairy farm lasts about an hour, but there’s lots to do in addition to the tour! We have a large Welcome Center Barn that includes Roxie’s Gift Store, our family and Arizona dairy museum and Roxie’s Ice Cream Parlor. A typical guest will spend about 2 – 2.5 hours down on the Farm and should plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before their tour departs.

Yes, reservations are required. Our cow-spotted tram has limited seating, requiring the public to make advance reservations to secure a seat on the tour. We hate to have to turn visitors away when our tram is full and they “walk-in” so please book in advance. We recommend booking one to two weeks in advance of your desired tour date. The earlier you book, the better, as our demand fluctuates throughout the season. Generally, our busiest season is in the Spring (February – April) and we do fill our special events well in advance.

The Farm Tour is fun for everyone! In order to accommodate people of all ages, we have varied pricing

Yes, for groups of 10 or more we have discounted pricing. In order to receive the discounted pricing we do require the group to pay as one vs. individually. We also have group discounts on food items. Group rate (minimum of 10 paid guests with one form of payment in order to receive group rates) is a 10% discount off regularly-priced tickets. Ice cream pricing for groups is $1.00 per group member.

All reservations for groups of 10 or more require full payment at the time of booking the reservation.  Please have your credit card information ready when a Farm Tour reservationist calls you to confirm your reservation. If your plans change, you may modify your reservation up to 14 days prior to the original date booked and receive a full refund. Any cancellations that occur after 14 days prior to your scheduled tour date are non-refundable. Cancellations are considered to be a reduction to the number of guests or a cancellation of the entire reservation. Please note that permitted modifications are subject to availability and are limited to adding guests to the reservation or making changes to the tour time and date. Group Farm Tour tickets will be available for pick-up at Tour Check In on the day of your tour in the Welcome Barn at Shamrock Farms Farm in Stanfield, AZ. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy the event before their tour time. Group tickets are non-transferable and the person picking up the tickets must match the name on the reservation – photo identification will be required for pickup.

You can pay for your tour when booking your reservation over the phone via credit card or you can also pay at Tour Check In at the Farm on the day of your scheduled tour. We accept Visa and Mastercard.

Your tour admission includes the hour-long tour through our working dairy farm on our cow-spotted tram, a Farm Tour band coining you as part of the herd and a complimentary 12 oz mmmmilk. After all, how could we take you through our farm operations and not let you reap the benefit, or in this case taste, of our delicious milk!

We welcome lone cows and herds of all sizes on our Farm Tour! But please note, we only have the capacity to take 64 people on each tour because of our tram size.

You are going to experience life on the Farm, so dress comfortably. Since the tour is primarily outside be sure to plan your attire according to the weather and bring jackets during colder months. Sunscreen and hats are recommended throughout the season!

Rain in Arizona? Never! We live in a climate where we often don’t have to worry about bad weather. Rain or shine, we are committed to offering our tour with the exception of extreme weather conditions or heavy downpours. At that time we would notify (call or email) all visitors with reservations for that tour day that tours have been cancelled. Because the tour is outdoors and the tram is open-air, if you are not happy with the weather on your scheduled tour day and do not plan on coming, please call us to cancel your reservation or reschedule your tour. Our phone number is (602) 477-2462.

Yes, all parts of our tour are handicap accessible. We have room for wheelchairs on the tram as well as an elevator in the milking barn. Please specify in your reservation if you are bringing a wheelchair so we can reserve space on the tram.

In order to show our guests everything from the cow cafeteria to the calf zone, we escort visitors around on our cow-spotted tram. Overall, there is very little walking which may be good for some visitors. But for moms who are wondering about busy little toddlers and kids – we do have Roxie’s Outdoor Adventure where the kids can run around and play for approximately 10 minutes.

The cow-spotted tram does not have a lot of extra space for other items besides our herd members, AKA you. The tour does not entail a lot of walking so guests are more than welcome to bring their stroller into the barn and park it by tour check in. For walkers, if it folds, we can accommodate it on the tram and if not, please specify in your reservation so we can make space for it.

Farming has come along way since the olden days when cows were milked by hand (you’ll learn all about that on our Farm Tour!). As such, visitors do not have the opportunity to milk a cow. In fact, even our own workers don’t milk them. Our milk is one of the safest, most natural beverages on the market because no human hands touch it. In order to bring this process to life for visitors, however, we do have a simulated milking barn at our playground area where visitors can milk a display cow.

Our official spokescow, Roxie, is a busy gal these days. She has been working for Shamrock since 1994 and her responsibilities have grown to include on-air personality for our TV commercials to attending community events and handing out hugs and hive-fives to all of her adoring fans. She never forgets her roots down on the Farm and all her hard working sisters, though, and you can usually expect to see her at some of our special events like Joy to the Herd and our Easter Egg Hunt.

Our physical address is 40034 W. Clayton Stanfield, AZ 85172. Remember, if you are trying to find us use the directions posted on our website by clicking here. Mapquest, GPS and other directional websites tend to get our expected herd members lost.
