Why Milk?

Packed with vitamins and nutrients, milk is one of the most requested items at food banks, yet it’s a challenge for food banks to meet the demand for milk, because nonperishable items are most likely to be donated.

Hunger in Arizona

  • Nearly one in four children, one in five Arizonans, and one in seven seniors in Arizona live in poverty and go to bed hungry.*
  • Arizona ranks fifth in the country for high child food-insecurity rates, with over 400,000 children facing hunger every day.
  • More than 40 percent of the households receiving emergency food assistance have at least one person who is working.
