Organic Cows New to Season Three of Shamrock Farms' Farm Tour

PHOENIX (Oct. 3, 2007) – Shamrock Farms reopens its Farm Tour barn doors today, October 3 after a break from the summer heat. This year’s tour features an additional stop at Shamrock Farms’ lush organic pasture to visit its organic herd of 200 cows and counting.

"We’re excited about Arizona families meeting our new family members as part of their educational adventure on our Farm Tour,” said Sandy Kelly, director of marketing for Shamrock Farms Dairy Division. “For urban kids in particular, our Farm offers a unique opportunity to learn about and experience the inner workings of a real dairy farm, which now features both a traditional and organic herd.”

Located in Stanfield, Ariz., the Farm Tour sits on part of Shamrock Farms’ 1,000 acres of land. The state-of-the-art facility presents Shamrock Farms history alongside the importance of innovation in today’s dairy industry through family-focused and educational activities. The one-hour guided tour features a ride on a cow-spotted tram through the home of more than 10,000 cows, a milking barn that accommodates 1,600 cows, a calf nursery, an interactive play zone including a larger-than-life milk bottle and cottage cheese slide, and more. Additionally, the 11,000-square-foot welcome center barn houses a family history and education museum complete with interactive games, an ice cream parlor, and gift shop.

“With doubled attendance last year and the same expected this year, we are fast becoming an extremely popular Arizona attraction with residents and visitors of all ages,” said Kelly. “It gives us great pride that sharing our 85 years of history and innovation has been so well-received.”

To celebrate the opening of season three, which coincides with Shamrock Farms 85th anniversary, special offers will be available for the month of October. Ice cream scoops will be $.85 each and an $.85 gift shop item will be featured daily. Additionally, Shamrock Farms will donate a portion of their merchandise gift store sales to the City of Hope – a biomedical research and treatment center dedicated to the prevention, treatment and cure of cancer and other life-threatening diseases – for every item purchased in October in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Farm Tour is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Public tours are 1 p.m. on the weekdays and 10:00 a.m., 11:15 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Weekday mornings are dedicated to school and organization field trips.

General admission is $9 for adults, $6 for children ages 12 and under, $7.50 for seniors age 60 and better and free for children under two-years-old. All prices include tax. Special rates are offered for field trips and groups of 15 or more.
