Shamrock Farms celebrates Farm Tour season opening with “Kids Ride FREE
October visitors also get a souvenir celebrity “got milk?” poster
PHOENIX (Sept. 17, 2010)—Shamrock Farms will celebrate its Farm Tour season opening with a “Kids Ride FREE” offer whereby families receive a FREE child admission with each paid adult admission during public tours each Saturday the entire month of October. Additionally, children visiting the public Farm Tour will receive a FREE celebrity “got milk?” poster as a souvenir, while supplies last.
Providing affordable family fun, Shamrock Farms Farm Tour gives Arizona families the opportunity to get up close and personal with Shamrock Farms herd of more than 10,000 traditional and organic milking cows. Visitors will have fun climbing the 20-ft milk bottle and riding the cow-spotted tram all while learning valuable “farm to table” agricultural lessons.
“Our Farm Tour gives the public a behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of a real dairy farm. Of course, our tour is unique in that it brings the whimsical Shamrock Farms brand to life, making learning about Arizona’s local dairy fun for the whole family,” said Sandy Kelly, director of marketing for Shamrock Farms.
The adventure begins at the big red barn, an 11,000-square-foot welcome center housing a Shamrock Farms’ family history and educational dairy museum complete with interactive games, an ice cream parlor and gift shop. The fun continues with a one-hour guided Farm Tour featuring a ride on a cow-spotted tram through the home of more than 10,000 traditional and organic cows, a milking barn that accommodates 1,200 cows (milking 200 at a time), an interactive play zone including simulated milking cows and a cottage cheese slide, a calf nursery and more!
The tour itself delivers “farm to table” educational lessons, helping guests gain an understanding of where milk comes from and the process it goes through before arriving at their family dinner table. The tour also provides nutrition lessons with a focus on the food guide pyramid and milk’s nine essential nutrients.
“The Farm Tour is a perfect fall family outing, providing an affordable and unforgettable experience unlike anything else in Arizona. We hope that families take advantage of our special ‘Kids ride FREE’ offer during the month of October,” added Kelly.
FREE child admissions will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve reservations only basis for public tours taking place during the month of October only. “Kids Ride FREE” offer is not available for school tours and may not be combined with any other offer or special rates, including group rates. Celebrity “got milk?” posters feature Taylor Swift, Albert Pujols, Chauncey Billups and Jordin Sparks, among others and will also be awarded to children attending the public Farm Tour on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last. Also in celebration of the Farm Tour season opening, visitors will receive valuable coupons for Shamrock Farms farm-fresh dairy products.
Now accepting reservations, the Farm Tour is open to the public on Saturdays, October - May, with tours departing at 10 and 11:15 a.m. and 1 p.m. beginning Saturday, Oct. 2. The Farm is also open for school fieldtrips Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Shamrock Farms’ Farm is located in Stanfield, Ariz., and situated on part of Shamrock Farms’ 1,000 acres of land (with 320 acres dedicated to dairy operations). The state-of-the-art facility presents Shamrock Farms history alongside the importance of innovation in today’s dairy industry through family-focused and educational activities.
General admission is $9 for adults, $6 for children ages 2 to 12, $7.50 for military and seniors age 60 and better, and free for children under age 2. All prices include tax. Special rates are offered for field trips and groups of 10 or more.
